President Trump reportedly plans to fast-track a nominee to replace Ginsberg, a reversal from the Republicans’ 2016 refusal to accept any nominee from President Barack Obama during an election year. And Sen. Mitch McConnell, the architect of the plan to hamstring Obama, promised barely two hours after Ginsberg’s death that Trump’s nominee “will receive a vote on the Senate floor.”
