Where are they now? Migrants who slept on the Midtown sidewalk.

Dozens of recently arrived migrants to New York City camped outside of the Roosevelt Hotel, which has been made into a reception center, as they try to secure temporary housing, on Aug. 1 in Midtown. The migrants, many from Central America and Africa, spent days sleeping on the sidewalk, before the city located beds for them elsewhere.

Although many found the scene of outstretched bodies on the pavement unsettling, the widely circulated images appeared to spur government action. [ more › ]
